Kate Miles, Gaiters won't help you in Gertrude Valley (March theme: Walking Buddies)

Aussies love to keep our feet dry when hiking, so when my New Zealander buddies announced they were taking me and a couple of friends to Gertrude Saddle to get our feet wet, we protested! But we'll wear waterproof boots and gaiters! "That won't help" they laughed. We'll remove our boots each crossing. They told us there were six each way, one of which was up to our bum. We were going to get our feet wet! Now I understand why Kiwis don't care about getting their feet wet. It would take twice as long to get anywhere otherwise!
