It's summer! And that means BBQs, house parties and lots of time outdoors - and if you're looking for speakers that can fill the outside space with cool, crisp summer vibes then you're going to love the Soundboks Go's.

When I first took them out of the box the speakers were bulkier than I expected but then the Soundboks Go's use that weight (around 9kg) and size to its advantage.

The speakers feature a rugged plastic honeycomb grille, with a rubber trim around its edges, to protect it from drops and shocks. It's also waterproof.

There's a hole underneath the speaker to mount it to a pole and an aux connector for microphones so you can turn the speakers into a portable PA system making the speakers even more useful.

It was easy to connect the speakers to my phone via Bluetooth and there's an app so you can adjust the bass and volume via your phone. You can also set the speakers for an indoors environment - it made the sound quieter and less basey - or you can keep it to the default sound.

There's also a feature to pair two sets of Soundboks Go's for double the fun.

A removable battery called the Batteryboks powers the Soundboks Go. The battery, which is just as solidly built as the speaker, slots into a well on the rear side of the case.

There's a button on the rear of the battery which lets you check its remaining battery levels.

So the most important thing, what's it sound like? Great. I played around with all sorts of genres of music, from acoustic to rock and from classical to modern dance tracks and the sound was consistently crisp.

Not wanting to upset the neighbours I didn't push the volume to its limits but I'd say at the right place and right time you could crank the Soundboks Go’s right up and you'd have the crowd at your fingertips.

If you've got a long weekend camping trip coming up, these portable speakers will last the whole trip, just bear in mind their size, they will take up a bit of space in the back of the car - but if you need something with a bit more muscle for your outdoor cookouts or want to DJ your own parties, the Soundboks Go's will impress your guests and deliver a whole lot of volume.
