Tasmania's Parks and Wildlife Service has introduced a new registration and booking system for popular day and overnight walks, campgrounds and attractions in reposnse to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pre-registration and bookings are required for the following sites, so numbers can be capped based on available camping platforms and on current health advice to ensure physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices are met.

FREE PRE-REGISTRATION
All walkers require a valid parks pass

Overland Track winter walkers (15 June – 30 September 20)
Walkers should note that all huts are closed except for emergency use, with walker numbers capped to 16 people per day. All walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent and complete the Overland Track from north (Cradle Mountain) to south (Lake St Clair), moving on each day.
Winter walking can be dangerous for inexperienced walkers– please read Key Walk Safely messages and walker safety Checklist. The registration system is not a safety system. Individuals are responsible for their own safety as per the Walk Safely messages. The booking system will be live soon, in the interim please call 6165 4254.

Frenchmans Cap (Vera and Tahune hut sites), Pine Valley hut site, New Pelion hut via Arm River

  • Frenchmans Cap capped at eight walkers per day
  • Pine Valley capped at 10 walkers per day
  • New Pelion capped at eight walkers per day.
  • All walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent and move on to the next campsite each day.

Call the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre on 03 6289 1172 or email lakestclair@parks.tas.gov.au to confirm availability and register your tent site. Walker numbers are capped at each site. Please note bookings will be made on a first come, first served basis and numbers are strictly limited.

Scott Kilvert Memorial Hut/Lake Rodway capped at 12 walkers per day.

Walls of Jerusalem camping
Walls of Jerusalem formal campsites at Wild Dog Creek and Dixons Kingdom are capped at 16 walkers per day. All walkers must carry a good quality 3-4 season tent and move on to the next campsite each day. Call the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre on 03 6289 1172 or email lakestclair@parks.tas.gov.au to confirm availability and register your tent site. Conditions apply as for Frenchmans Cap.

Mole Creek Caves
Bookings for cave tours will be taken one day in advance, by phone, with payment by credit card. There will be six tours per day, with eight places (and two guides) on each tour at Marakoopa Cave. Please note that tours of King Solomon’s cave are currently unavailable. To book: 03 6363 5182

Hastings Caves tours
Bookings for cave tours will be taken in advance, by phone, with payment by credit card. There will be four tours per day, with eight places on each tour. To book: 03 6298 3209

REOPENED BOOKING SYSTEM

Three Capes Track experience
Book your walk at www.threecapestrack.com. Walkers will be capped to 18 per day, with two people per room in the multi-share rooms.

Overland Track
Booking for Overland Track departures for the 2020/21 season from 1 October to 31 May open on July 1. Click here for more info and to book. Due to the COVID-19 situation and closure of huts with communal sleeping arrangements, the daily walker numbers will be capped at 16 per day to suit available tent sites.
