A beautiful photo of two fishermen taken in Central Hokkaido, Japan has won the Feb photo comp. The theme was 'water' and this misty photo really filled the brief.

Jane Davis of Cottesloe, WA takes home an Osprey pack thanks to our good friends at Outdoor Agencies. Jane takes five with Great Walks.

How did you get such a wonderful photo?
I took the photo early one morning and it was just one of those ‘right place, right time’ moments. I was captivated by the scene and just took out my iPhone – no filters or timers etc. I just pointed and shot as they say.

How was the walking where you were when you took it?
I was actually on a cycling holiday around Hokkaido, which was great, but I’d like to return to Japan to do some walking both near Lake Akan, Kushiro where this photo was taken, and also in the Kyoto area.

What's your earliest bushwalking memory?
My earliest bushwalking memory was with my family in the Stirling Range NP near Albany in Western Australia. My Dad was a keen amateur ornithologist and my Mum a keen botanist so my sisters and I grew up loving the outdoors.

Who is your favourite hiking buddy and why?
My hiking buddies are actually friends I met through my swimming group. We walked the Tour of Mont Blanc together a few years ago and I’ve also walked (tramped!) in NZ with two of them.

What's on your hiking bucket list?
I am planning on doing the Alpe Adria Trail in Europe in 2021 with one of my swimming friends, but before then hopefully the Kepler Track in NZ in 2020.
