Outdoor gear brand Ridgeline clothing has come on board as the sponsor for the Great Walks online photo comp.
Each monthly competition winner will receive one of Ridgeline's top quality packs.
We had a quick chat to Ridgeline's Marketing & IT Manager Peter Wattel about the brand.
GRW: So tell us about Ridgeline Clothing, what is it about the brand that will appeal to Great Walks readers?
PW: Ridgeline started in New Zealand 20 years ago. We are predominantly known as a hunting brand of clothing and accessories, but we pride ourselves as an innovative business and we have moved into the general outdoors market over the last few years.
Our strong background has helped us develop many new and exciting products to many outdoorsmen and fishermen. Many Great Walks readers may see us as a new brand out there and I believe it is our quality and affordability that appeals to the readers.
GRW: What's your favourite Ridgeline clothing item?
PW: When I’m out and about, I can’t go past the Ridgeline Rival waterproof jacket. I layer up a lot and having the Rival packed in my pack allows me to carry more but still I can grab it if it starts to rain and know I will be kept dry.
GRW: What's your favourite area to bushwalk?
PW: Growing up in the Southern Highlands in NSW I am very fond of Morton National Park which backs onto my hometown of Bundanoon. The many tracks there are always fun for any length walk I might feel like.
GRW: What's your earliest bushwalking memory?
PW: Again it would be in Morton National Park when I was about 3 or 4 with my grandparents who always loved the walk to Fairy Bower Falls.
GRW: What's on your bushwalking bucket list?
PW: My wife’s grandfather helped build the bridges on the Kokoda Trail and it has always inspired us to do the walk ourselves so it has to be Kokoda.
