Each year the Sir David Martin Foundation's flagship event, Abseil for Youth, invites people to face their fears, as the young people in the Triple Care Farm youth rehab program do each day of their lives committing to overcome their substance abuse and turn their lives around.
This year Andrew Lock, the only Australian to climb all 14 of the worlds 8000m summits (see his story in the Aug-Sept issue of Great Walks), will be summiting a new height – 1 Market Street, Sydney skyscraper with hundreds of other fundraisers for the urban high-altitude challenge of the year.
With a $1500 individual fund raising target, fundraisers will climb the 33 storey building, then descend raising money for some of the most vulnerable young Australians. All climbers will be safe in the hands of the excellent and award-winning Adventure Out technical team.
An Ambassador of the Foundation since 2009, Andrew Lock encourages others to push through the fear and apprehension of any situation as his new book, Summit 8000, showcases his experiences overcoming multiple life and death situations encountered on the mountains.
Triple Care Farm is an award-winning rehab program run by Mission Australia, primarily funded by the Sir David Martin Foundation.
The event will take place on October 17 and 18. To register, or for more info click here.
