If you haven't seen the movie Free Solo you must! It's an Oscar winning documentary profiling professional rock climber Alex Honnold on his quest to perform a free solo climb of El Capitan in June 2017. El Capitan is a 900m vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park, USA.

Alex climbs mountains without ropes, without anything stopping him from falling to his death except his own well-honed skills.

Free Solo follows Alex's journey from him deciding to attempt to free solo climb El Capitan, to his training and finally to the day itself when he attempts what's never been done before.

Of course the documentary filmmakers had a number of ethical dilemnas to deal with before they decided to film Alex – the main one being what if he dies.

This interesting 10 minute video looks at the ethics behind the movie - whilst also showing you show awesome climbing footage.

Enjoy
