In 2025, Aussies are hitting the trails in record numbers and it’s not just for the physical challenge anymore.

With almost half of the country’s population hiking occasionally (33%) or regularly (14%), feeling a sense of achievement (53%) came in as the top motivator for completing a hike over seeing the results on a fitness app (13%) according to new research from AllTrails.

To meet this growing appetite for deeper, more meaningful outdoor experiences, AllTrails has launched Peak – the newest membership tier for more immersive bushwalking.

Peak features include:

  • Custom Routes: Offering a more personalised hiking experience
  • Trail Conditions: AllTrails’ built in weather and insights tool to help users prepare for what’s ahead
  • Community Heatmaps: Highlighting trail traffic
  • Outdoor Lens: AllTrails’ new camera tool that lets users ID plants and trees in real-time, allowing Aussies to learn more about their surroundings on every walk

AllTrails

The AllTrails app offers access to thousands of trail maps across Australia. Users can search for bushwalks by location, difficulty, length and user ratings. The app provides GPS navigation, offline map downloads and trail reviews, helping bushwalkers plan and stay safe.

Detailed trail descriptions include elevation, terrain and potential hazards. AllTrails also allows users to record their walks, track progress and share experiences.

With community-driven insights and up-to-date trail conditions, it enhances the outdoor experience for beginners and experienced hikers alike, promoting responsible exploration of Australia’s diverse natural landscapes.
