Great Coastal Walks Australia
We’ve reached a new milestone at Great Walks, we’ve released our first hardback, coffee table book!
In conjunction with Gelding Street Press, Great Coastal Walks Australia features a range of unique locations to take in Australia's most spectacular coastal scenery. The 250-page book features over 40 unique coastal walks that cover the width and breadth of the country.
Handpicked by Great Walks magazine editor Brent McKean and written by your favourite Great Walks writers, each story includes gorgeous glossy images, a detailed map and walk notes, plus the start and end point, and length of each walk.
The book starts off in NSW where walks include Sydney’s new Bondi to Manly Walk that our writer describes as, “good as Italy’s famed 80km 4-day Cinque Terra walk”. That’s a big call but we reckon she’s right! Other walks in NSW include the new Murramarang South Coast Walk and the Yuraygir Coastal Trail.
The book then heads to Queensland where walks include the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk and the Whitsundays.
In Victoria walks include the famed Great Ocean Walk with its gorgeous beaches and dramatic tales about shipwrecks, plus we showcase the best walks in Victoria’s favourite national park, Wilsons Prom. We also explore Australia’s only Camino, the Mary Mackillop Way in southwest Victoria.
Across the Bass Strait, walks in Tassie include the stunning Bay of Fires, the dramatic Three Capes Track and the iconic Freycinet National Park which takes you to that glorious viewing spot looking down onto Wineglass Bay. Postcard perfect!
In South Australia, we enjoy some walking, wilderness and wine along the Fleurieu Peninsula and the Wild South Coast Way, and in WA we try out the coastal section of the mighty Bibbulmun Track and explore stunning Albany with its views of the wild South Ocean and its touching connection to WWI.
Great Coastal Walks Australia is the perfect gift for your outdoor-loving loved ones or the perfect addition to your own bookshelf!
