Before entering the Wilderness Photographer of the Year competition, it is important to understand the key rules to ensure your submission is eligible so here's a quick rundown of some key rules.
The competition is open to citizens and residents of Australia and New Zealand, and all images must have been captured on or after 1 January 2024.
Any photographs previously entered into this competition are not eligible to win a prize.
Entrants may submit images to multiple categories, and more than one entry within a single category is permitted. However, all elements within the image must have been photographed by the entrant.
Submissions must be entirely photographic in origin, meaning the use of stock images, clip art, or generative AI is strictly prohibited.
As this is a photography competition, images must be captured using a camera, whether digital, film or a phone.
While generative AI is not allowed in the creation or editing process, certain AI-based tools such as noise reduction and sharpening may be used, provided they do not compromise the authenticity of the original image.
Organisers may request original files, including RAW images, to verify integrity, and failure to provide these may lead to disqualification.
Basic digital adjustments are acceptable, including cropping, colour correction, contrast, and dodging and burning.
Images must be submitted in JPEG format, with a minimum size of 2,500 pixels on the longest edge and a maximum file size of 5MB. Watermarks or branding are not permitted.
