So we have some big news for you all.

Outdoor and adventure media publishing house Adventure Entertainment (AE) has acquired Great Walks magazine and website.

Under the agreement, AE will assume ownership and operation of the Great Walks brand and print publication and are working on a transition from the Aug-Sept of the magazine.

The acquisition expands AE’s presence in the hiking category, complementing its existing portfolio of titles including Wild, Trail Run, Vertical Life, Australian Mountain Bike, Chillfactor, and other titles.

Adventure Entertainment CEO, Toby Ryston-Pratt, said: “Great Walks is an iconic title in the Australian outdoor landscape and a natural fit within the AE portfolio. The hiking category represents a significant and growing segment of the adventure market, and this acquisition strengthens our position in that space.

“Beyond publishing, it opens up broader opportunities across commercial partnerships, travel, and tourism — allowing us to better connect audiences, brands, and destinations through high-quality content and experiences. We’re excited to build on the legacy of Great Walks and welcome founding editor Brent McKean to our team.”

Yaffa Media Managing Director, Tracy Yaffa, said: “Great Walks has been an important part of our publishing portfolio and a trusted brand for Australia’s hiking community. We’re pleased to see it transition to Adventure Entertainment, who bring deep expertise in outdoor media and a clear vision for the category. This allows us to focus our efforts on other core areas of the Yaffa business, while ensuring Great Walks continues to thrive.”

So there you have it, Great Walks has a new owner but we promise you’ll get the same inspiring stories and informative gear reviews you have come to expect from your favourite bushwalking magazine for the last 19 years.
