The Bibbulmun Track Foundation has announced that Su-Mita Hill will be joining the Foundation as Chief Executive Officer in January 2026.
The foundation says Su-Mita brings strong experience in community outreach and partnership development in purpose-driven organisations, supported by a background in law and climate science.
It said her leadership is grounded in collaboration, care for community and a deep appreciation for Western Australia’s natural environments.
“These values align closely with the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to support walkers, volunteers and supporters, while caring for the Bibbulmun Track now and into the future,” the foundations website said.
“Su-Mita has a longstanding personal connection with the Bibbulmun Track and WA’s wild places. She is a passionate and experienced hiker and camper who believes time in nature plays an important role in wellbeing, personal growth and belonging, while highlighting the responsibility we all share to care for the environments that make these experiences possible.
“Her relationship with the Track began early, spending her first overnight experience at Ball Creek campsite with her father at the age of five. In 2019 she completed an end-to-end journey from Kalamunda to Albany. These experiences, along with other hikes across WA and overseas, have shaped her belief in the power of the Bibbulmun Track to inspire connection, stewardship and lifelong appreciation for nature,” said the website.
The Bibbulmun Track Foundation is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation established to provide support for the management, maintenance and marketing of the Bibbulmun Track.
Whilst the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction’s Parks and Wildlife Service, acts as Manager of the Track, the Bibbulmun Track Foundation is recognised as the primary focal point for community-based support and involvement, and has primary responsibility for promoting the Track to potential walkers and maintaining the Track through the Newmont Boddington Gold Eyes on the Ground volunteer maintenance program.
The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long distance walk trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda, a suburb in the hills on the outskirts of Perth, to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. It passes through the heart of the scenic south west of Western Australia.
