Western Australia’s spectacular 1000km Bibbulmun Track is in the spotlight as filming begins on End to End, a new feature from the West Coast Visions initiative.
Written by Tim Barretto and Melanie Filler, the story centres on a middle-aged couple who set out to hike the entire Bibbulmun Track in an attempt to save their faltering marriage.
Over fifty days, they confront long-suppressed emotions and revisit the memories that have shaped their lives. Caroline Brazier plays Isla, while Nic Cassim portrays her husband, Sam.
The production is filming across the state from Perth to Albany, travelling through regional locations including Walpole, Donnelly River and Dwellingup during its month-long shoot. Barretto directs and produces the film alongside Filler, with David Noakes serving as executive producer. Noakes, who began his career in WA, has previously produced acclaimed works such as How the West Was Lost, Taking a Look and Bigger than Texas.
End to End has been selected as the 2024 recipient of Screenwest’s prestigious West Coast Visions programme, which supports distinctive Western Australian filmmakers developing their first theatrical feature.
Barretto said he was thrilled to be shooting on location with a dedicated cast and crew who have embraced the challenge of working in the state’s untamed landscapes. “It is inspiring to see our two captivating leads bring such depth and authenticity to these complex characters. We hope audiences will laugh, cry and reflect as they share this emotional journey,” he said.
