If you’re searching for inspiration for your next hiking adventure, Canada has just been crowned home to the world’s best hiking trails.

A new study by personalised postcard service TouchNote ranked Canada as the leading hiking destination globally, awarding it a perfect score of 10 out of 10. The research analysed data from hiking platform AllTrails, examining the top 100-rated hiking routes across several countries renowned for their outdoor experiences.

To determine the rankings, the study assessed a range of factors including trail length, average user ratings, difficulty levels and the number of reviews each walk had received. Researchers also examined user-uploaded photographs and analysed review language, paying particular attention to descriptions such as “beautiful scenery”, “breathtaking views” and “stunning landscapes”.

The findings suggest that Canada’s vast wilderness, dramatic mountain ranges and picturesque hiking routes continue to impress walkers from around the world. From rugged alpine trails to scenic forest walks, the country’s diverse landscapes helped it stand out from other popular hiking destinations included in the study.

According to TouchNote’s Head of Marketing, Craig Law, interest in Canada as a travel destination has surged significantly over the past year.

“Over the past twelve months, searches for ‘best places to visit in Canada’ have soared by more than 5,000 per cent, highlighting the True North as one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations all year round,” Law said.

He added that Canada not only secured the top position for hiking, but also ranked among the most photographed destinations, with travellers keen to capture and share its postcard-perfect scenery.
