AllTrails, an online platform dedicated to helping nature enthusiasts discover and explore walking trails, has unveiled its Travel-Worthy Trails list for 2026, with Western Australia’s Cape to Cape Track standing as the only Australian entry.

“We searched the world using real experiences from AllTrails members and insights from our local partners to identify these remarkable places,” said Carly Smith, Chief Marketing Officer at AllTrails. “These once-in-a-lifetime destinations are designed to inspire people to plan a trip or simply step outside and explore closer to home.”

Drawing on reviews from users and advice from in-house experts, AllTrails compiled a collection of what it considers the best hiking locations for the year, ranging from the Nantahala National Forest in the United States to Margaret River in Australia.

The 135-kilometre Cape to Cape Track follows the dramatic coastline of the Margaret River region, connecting Cape Naturaliste in the north with Cape Leeuwin in the south. The route passes through towering karri forests, limestone cliffs, secluded beaches and windswept headlands, highlighting the rugged beauty of the south-west.

Hikers enjoy expansive views across the Indian and Southern Oceans, where whales, dolphins and seabirds are frequently seen. Wildflowers bloom in spring, and sections of farmland reflect the area’s rich cultural history.

Completed in stages or as a multi-day trek, the trail caters to both seasoned hikers and casual walkers, offering an immersive journey through ever-changing landscapes shaped by the sea.
