The Great Walks Annual is back from the pirnters and on its way to subscribers and newsagents!

The theme for the issue is Colours of Australia.

Featured walks include the mighty Bibbulmun Track where a father and son bond whilst walking WA's iconic 1000km trail.

"My credit card was taken, and we were kitted out with packs, sleeping mats, endless packs of dried food, and just two pairs of undies, one to be worn and one to be drying!" writes Leigh W. Simmons.

"I had never attempted anything like this in my life. Freddy was 24 but I was 58. Was I physically and mentally capable? Or would I go stark staring mad denied access to my books and journals?"

We also explore part of Tassie's Three Capes on a luxury guided walk, take on the self-guided Bondi to Manly Walk and spot marine life on the Byron Whale Trail, where you can walk from pub to pub.

"A night in Lennox complete with a visit to the local pub and the other half is all smiles for day three which sees us embark on the most scenic section of the coastal track," writes Peta Murray. "

“Tracing the headland up a set of wooden stairs, we walk through scrubby heath before the panorama opens on a posse of padlocks, odes to love adorning the clifftop’s wire fence."

We also walk in the Warrumbungle Range, the Sunshine Coast and Vic High Country. Our overseas dream destination is the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.

Our Walksmart section has a big feature on dehydrated food recipes and we show you how to make the best burgers in the bush! And we have a ripping yarn on the Aussie bushwalker who killed the Red Baron!

The Great Walks Annual is at the printers and next we'll have more news on when you can get your hands on it.
