The Aug-Sept issue is out now! The theme is "boots 'n all!" and the mag offers bushwalks that will get you in the thick of it, your heart rate up and get you to some of the most rewarding views in the country!

How about Tassie's Frenchmans Cap loop? It's a little bit different to the traditional route and pretty hard yakka but what an adventure!

"Our fourth day of walking is one of the best days of walking I have done and is reason enough on its own to do the route in the direction that we did," writes Joshua Brown.

"Since leaving Flat Buff on day two we had had little view of Frenchman’s Cap and in the 900m of altitude gain as you climb out of the river, the peak and its surrounds remain hidden. Enjoying the feeling of being able to stride on a made path, albeit very steep, had us all in high spirits. The trail becomes more exposed the higher it climbs the ridge until, as you crest the top of a rounded knoll, Frenchman’s Cap stands before you, cradled by lakes and flanked by sheer quartzite crags and peaks. You could be deep in the Italian Dolomites."

Next up we have a gorgeous 3-day walk in the Victorian Alps that will allow you to discover some of the area's iconic huts. We also bushwalk and island hop around the Whitsundays and showcase some of southeast Qld's best overnight walks.

This issue also showcases NZ's finest walking tracks include the iconic Routeburn and Milford tracks that editor Brent McKean did back-to-back and he had many highlights.

"The trail zig-zags its way up the mountain through sub-alpine scrub and once you reach the pass all the effort in getting there is worthwhile," he writes.

"Wherever you look you're surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. Alpine tussock grassland clings to the exposed rock surrounded by a scattering of small snow-fed lakes, and a large stone memorial for Quintin Mackinnon reminds you of the logistical challenge of forging a path up here."

Other Kiwi walks include the Hump Ridge Track - soon to be NZ's 11th Great Walk - and the Queen Charlotte Track.

We also showcase alpine hiking gear and track test a bunch of new outdoor kit include a tent designed by Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey!
