Here’s our first cover reveal for the year and it’s of the upcoming Feb-Mar issue.

The theme is ‘Hiker’s High’, you know, that natural high you get when you reach a summit and view over your surroundings, that same feeling when you reach camp after a long day on the trail, that same feeling when you reach the end of your walk and you look back at what you’ve achieved. Yes that Hiker’s High!

Walks featured include the brand new Mindjagari Track in the ACT which our writer raved about.

“This is the perfect hike to break into sections over multiple days,’ writes Gavin Kellett.

“The northern section from Mountain Creek carpark can be done in a number of ways over one day and can even be split into two days if you prefer to do the Camelback loop as one part and the Tidbinbilla Range with The Pimple as another part. The southern section can start from Fishing Gap or Mountain Creek, using the Snowy Corner Track and Ashbrook fire trail to complete the loop.”

Other featured walks include Mt Toolbrunup in WA’s Stirling Ranges, the Grand High Tops in the NSW Warrumbungles and Tassie’s South Coast Track.

Overseas we explore the UK’s Cotswold Way where our writer paints a pretty picture of the walk.

“Sunny flowered meadows, beautiful beech woods, lush rolling hills, ancient forts, castles and the scent of rambling roses in mellow stone villages,” writes Cheryl Robertson. “Walking the Cotswolds Way felt like stepping into an English landscape painting every day!”

We also explore NZ’s challenging French Ridge Track and the Camino de Costa Rica that goes from the Caribbean to the Pacific.

Our Walksmart section focuses on gear trends for 2026 and we offer top tips for wilderness survival including: “If you leave the track for a wee, leave your pack on the track so that if you do get lost, you can stay there and wait for other people to find your pack and find you. Complacency is a killer; so many bodies are found so near to a trail…”

Plus we reveal all the winners in our Wilderness Photographer of the Year. Stay tuned!
