Victoria’s High Country is being recognised for its outstanding regional tourism experiences, with four towns named finalists in the 2026 Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards presented by the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC).

Alexandra, Glenrowan, Rutherglen and Whitfield have each been acknowledged for their strong community spirit, memorable visitor experiences and commitment to showcasing the best of regional Victoria.

Tourism North East CEO Bess Nolan-Cook said the recognition highlights the diversity and quality of experiences available across the High Country.

“To have four High Country towns recognised as finalists is a tremendous achievement and reflects the passion, resilience and commitment of our local communities, tourism operators and businesses,” she said.

Nestled along the Goulburn River, Alexandra continues to attract visitors with its country charm, heritage character and access to outdoor adventure. Rutherglen remains one of Australia’s most celebrated wine destinations, renowned for its historic wineries, vibrant food scene and immersive cellar door experiences.

Whitfield, in the heart of the King Valley, has built a reputation for exceptional food and wine, alpine scenery and the famous Prosecco Road, while Glenrowan continues to captivate visitors through its strong connection to the Ned Kelly story and growing tourism experiences.

“These awards recognise more than just beautiful places,” Ms Nolan-Cook said.

“They celebrate communities working together to create welcoming and authentic visitor experiences.”

Public voting for the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards is now open.
