The Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track in southern NSW has officially reopened following the completion of essential repair works, welcoming visitors back to one of the most rewarding hikes in Morton National Park and along the South Coast.
Located in the park’s southern section, the walk is known for its steep stretches and steady climb, but the spectacular views at the summit make every step worthwhile. Recent upgrades have improved the overall experience, with sections of the track resurfaced, damaged areas repaired, and infrastructure strengthened, while ladders and access points have been refurbished to ensure safer passage to the top.
The trail winds through forest, heathland and ancient sandstone landscapes before reaching its most memorable feature — a series of ladders that guide you to the summit lookout. From here, take in sweeping views of the cliffs and gorges of the Budawang Wilderness, carved by the Clyde River. On clear days, you may even glimpse Jervis Bay or Bermagui in the distance.
Keep an eye out for lyrebirds near the final stretch, along with rare Pigeon House Ash eucalypts. Pack a lunch to enjoy at the summit or relax back at the picnic area near the trailhead after your descent.
