According to tens of thousands of Queenslanders, the state's best camping destination is Gordon Country, nestled in the scenic Goomburra Valley.

Located around two hours south-west of Brisbane, the popular getaway has long been a favourite among campers seeking a peaceful escape from city life. Surrounded by rugged bushland and rolling countryside, it offers an authentic taste of the Australian outdoors while remaining within easy reach of the Queensland capital.

More than 75,000 unique votes were cast as part of Queensland Day celebrations on 6 June, with Gordon Country emerging as the top camping spot in the state. The result highlights the property's enduring appeal among outdoor enthusiasts, families and weekend adventurers alike.

Set across an impressive 4,000 acres, Gordon Country is a privately owned, pet-friendly campground that caters to a wide range of travellers. Accommodation options include traditional campsites, glamping tents, cabins and caravan sites, making it suitable for everyone from first-time campers to seasoned bush explorers.

The property offers plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in nature. Visitors can spend their days tackling four-wheel-drive tracks, exploring hiking trails, spotting native birdlife or simply relaxing beside the creek and taking in the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape.

One of Gordon Country's biggest drawcards is the sheer size of the property. Campsites are generously spaced throughout the grounds, allowing visitors to enjoy privacy and a genuine sense of seclusion rarely found at more crowded campgrounds. Rather than noisy neighbours, you're more likely to encounter some of the property's free-ranging cattle and friendly donkeys wandering through the paddocks, adding to the authentic country atmosphere that has helped make Gordon Country one of Queensland's most beloved camping destinations.
