A brand new 14km shared trail is now in development, giving walkers and cyclists an exciting new way to enjoy the Bass Coast’s scenic hills, open fields, and native wildlife.

Funded by a $7.7 million partnership between the Allan Labor Government and the Bass Coast Shire Council through the Growing Suburbs Fund, the trail will link the towns of Inverloch and Wonthaggi, making the region’s natural attractions more accessible for all.

Once finished, the path will connect the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club to the Bass Coast Rail Trail in Wonthaggi, guiding users through serene wetlands and offering spectacular coastal views along the way.

Set for completion by mid-2026, the project is part of broader efforts to enhance transport infrastructure across Victoria. Since 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has invested $440 million into local developments, supporting over 11,300 jobs and boosting community liveability.

“By helping councils deliver better walking and cycling routes, we’re making it easier for people to move around and enjoy their surroundings,” said Minister for Suburbs Sonya Kilkenny.
