Early bird entries for this year’s Wilderness Photographer of the Year, presented by Mountain Designs close Sunday 15 June.
The early bird entry fee is $25 from Monday 16 June that goes up for $30.
Why do we charge a fee? Well, it costs to run a competition, paying judges and writers, creating and maintaining the website, and getting the more than $21k worth of prizes.
“Last year we had almost 700 entries so we know people don’t mind paying to enter a competition if the prizes are great and they get to see their images on a reputable website like Great Walks,” says editor Brent McKean.
“The calibre of images just gets better and better every year, and we can’t wait to see what images we’ll get this year so enter before the early bird special closes and sae yourself some money!”
There are three categories in Wilderness Photographer of the Year: Places, People and Nature.
Places: In the Places category, we're looking for your best landscape photos of wilderness areas. Think sweeping panoramas and dramatic horizons, spectacular coastlines and photogenic mountains. Images can be taken anywhere in the world.
People: In the People category, we want to see photos of people experiencing wilderness areas. If there's one or more people in the frame, or signs of human activity like a tent or campsite, this is the category for you. Images can be taken anywhere in the world.
Nature: In the Nature category we're looking for images of flora and fauna. Think kangaroos and wallabies, birds, wildflowers, beetles, mushrooms and much more. From the micro to the macro! Images can be taken anywhere in the world.
