Nancy Costin, Cannabullen Falls - Going Down (PLACES WILDERNESS 2022)
The ridge to the south looking across to the falls was precarious to say the least. The ridge was extremely narrow, sometimes at it's widest was one metre but at most it was careful where you place your foot as I grappled with vines, tree roots and trunks to maintain a hold while the ground plummeted away on both sides at alarming angles. This photo was taken about 3 hours in on the 7 hour hike. Another half hour of steep scree sliding and scrambling over rocks and fallen trees and startled "Blue phase" green tree snakes in the flooded river at the bottom revealed an awesome sight from below. The view from the base was spectacular! As the mist smashed and the water roared from it dropping 70 metres into a large, dark pool at the bottom was truly a sight to behold. An epic hike!
