Dawn Furmage, Glacial Walk (PLACES WILDERNESS)

Matanuka Glacier is the largest in Alaska. We walked across the permanently frozen river on ancient blue ice to get there. Although a metre or more thick you could see movement below and hear cracks in the silence of the glacial valley.
