Darren Patterson, Hooker Lake Pano (PLACES WILDERNESS 2022)

This is a later winter shot of Hooker lake with Mount Cook in the distance. It's one of the best short walks in New Zealand and provides these stunning views. The lake freezes over and tourists test the thickness of the ice by throwing rocks on to it. The sound of these crash and boom around the valley as the echos reverberate off the walls.
