Wendy Klein, Murphy's Haystack (PLACES WILDERNESS 2022)

On a private farm, (now a tourist attraction,) at Mortana, in South Australia, is these magnificant inselberg rock formations. Murphy's Haystacks are very old and you can certainly see evidence of wind-worn boulders which when speaking to the owner of the property told us they are over 1,500 million years old. These haystacks are sitting in the middle of a field surrounded by mallee scrub. You will find these haystacks over on the Eyre Peninsular about 40 k/ms from Streaky Bay. This image was captured at sunset.
