Andrew Coles, Smiling Ridge (PLACES WILDERNESS)
On the way back down Mt Ossa, after clouds started rolling in over the peak, we were treated to dappled light and brewing storm clouds on our descent. the view back up the pass had all but disappeared and we still had a way to go before we would be setting up camp for the night. the rest of the day was spent fleetingly trying to outrun the pursuing weather. and dreaming of a hot meal in the hut. This is one of those images I keep finding myself looking back on from just before the storm of 2020 and the pandemic took place. I feel pretty lucky to have been able to do this hike with my Dad and my Brother. My partner and I have only been able to see them a few times since.
