Staring into the abyss. The crashing waves are like a deafening silence that drowns out any other thought. I took this photo on a spontaneous beach trip before I had to go back to work for the year, filled with apprehension about everything to come I knew I needed some wilderness to ground me. Walking along the rock pools I captured this perfect moment of a surfer standing on the rocks deciding when to jump on a wave, when suddenly he was perfectly framed by the crashing waves towering above.
