The 48km Three Capes Track, located within Tasman National Park south of Hobart, links a series of purpose-built huts and elevated boardwalks, allowing walkers to experience the region’s rugged coastline safely and efficiently.
Designed as a four-day, three-night walk, the track balances accessibility with immersion, guiding visitors through coastal heath, open forest and dramatic clifftop terrain.
Key highlights include Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy, where towering dolerite sea cliffs rise hundreds of metres above the Southern Ocean—among the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere. Along the way, interpretive signage shares insights into geology, wildlife and cultural history, while carefully positioned lookouts provide sweeping views of the coastline.
The result is a well-managed walking experience that showcases Tasmania’s raw coastal beauty without compromising safety or sustainability.
And as this video shows it should be on every bushwalker’s to-do list. So grab a cup of tea and enjoy this video.
