The official start of Tassie’s walking season is just around the corner and a number of operators and tours are rearing to go.
First off the rank is The Maria Island Walk, a four-day, three-night guided experience operated by Wild Bush Luxury, reopening on 1 October for the 2025/2026 season.
Located within a national park off Tasmania’s east coast, the walk offers small-group departures for up to ten people, combining coastal scenery, local wildlife, and the island’s history.
This season, the experience continues to highlight Tasmanian food and wine. Walkers will enjoy produce from long-standing local suppliers, including Bream Creek Vineyard, known for its cool-climate wines, and Mures Seafood, which provides sustainably caught fish and shellfish.

Meals feature regional ingredients such as Tasmanian scallops, blue eye trevalla, and Ashgrove Cheese, alongside products from Island Berries Tasmania, Pigeon Whole Bakers, and others.
The route is graded easy to moderate and covers varied terrain including beaches and forests. Optional climbs to Bishop and Clerk or Mount Maria are available on Day 3 for those seeking additional challenge and views.

Accommodation includes two nights in private bush camps and one night at Bernacchi House, a restored heritage property dating to the 1880s.
The walk runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 April 2026, starting from $3,250 per person twin share. Winter walks operate from May to August, from $1,900 per person.
