We love this entry in our Wilderness Photographer of the Year, presented by Southern Ocean Walk.

Steven Genesin took this atmospheric image with plenty of scale and drama.

"On a trail in remote Central Australia that leads into a deep gorge, unusual weather patterns created an almost mystical walk 'into the unknown'," says Steven.

"Usually dry and arid with high temperatures this part of Australia rarely sees low cloud and fog to the extent that was revealed on this occasion. The towering peaks of the stone outcrops were barely recognisable through the fog. As we walked deeper into the gorge we were able appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the forces of nature at play on that day. The lone figure of my partner in the distance showed the size and scale of the enormous rock formations. We considered ourselves fortunate to be there on the day."
