Video: Hikers run for cover as lava rocks rain down

Terrifying footage shows hikers running for their lives as Indonesia’s Mount Dukono erupts, sending a towering column of volcanic ash more than 10km into the sky.

The dramatic eruption unfolded with little warning, forcing walkers to flee as thick ash and volcanic debris billowed above the mountain.

Mount Dukono is one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes and experiences frequent eruptions, but the sheer scale of this blast created a frightening spectacle.

Authorities continue to monitor volcanic activity closely and have urged visitors and local residents to avoid the exclusion zone around the volcano.
