Standard entry pricing for Great Walks’ Wilderness Photographer of the Year, presented by Mountain Designs, closes at midnight this Sunday, September 20.
After that, last-minute entry pricing kicks in, so get your images uploaded before the deadline and save yourself some dollars while putting your photography in the running for more than $20,000 worth of prizes!
Now in its sixth year, Wilderness Photographer of the Year celebrates the very best images of the great outdoors and is open to photographers who are citizens or residents of Australia and New Zealand.
There’s plenty to get excited about, with a prize pool worth more than $20,000, including $5,000 cash and more than $15,000 worth of prizes.
You could score luxury guided walks, a swag of great outdoor gear and personal locator beacons.
There are three categories to enter: Places, People and Nature.
Places is all about spectacular wilderness landscapes. Think soaring mountains, dramatic coastlines, sweeping panoramas, wild rivers and unforgettable horizons. Your image can be captured anywhere in the world.
People celebrates the human side of wilderness. Whether it’s a lone hiker crossing a vast landscape, friends around a campsite or even a tent providing a splash of colour in the wild, if people or signs of human activity feature in your shot, this is your category.
Nature takes you up close and personal with the wild, from kangaroos and birds to wildflowers, beetles, fungi and everything in between. Go big with wildlife or get seriously small with macro photography!
The best images – including winners, runners-up and the Top 10 in each category – will be featured in Great Walks magazine and online at greatwalks.com.au.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to citizens and residents of Australia and New Zealand. Residents must have lived in Australia or New Zealand for at least six months at the time of entry.
