A 71-year-old tourist who had been missing for two days in Litchfield National Park in the Northern Territory has been found alive and well, NT Police say.
Maggie Dobbin from Tweed Heads in New South Wales was reported missing on Sunday night, after last being seen near the Wangi Falls campground earlier that day.
Police say she set out on a 10 kilometre hike from Wangi Falls to Tjaetaba Falls but became disoriented and was unable to find her way back.
Authorities began a large-scale search for the experienced bushwalker on Monday morning and announced on Tuesday afternoon she had been located.
NT Police say she was lucky to have enough supplies to stay safe.
"Luckily, she was well-provisioned with food and water and a silver blanket, and had also found enough fresh water to stay hydrated," Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said.
"She was resting in the shade this afternoon when she heard the helicopter and was able to walk to a point where she could be seen and was subsequently picked up by the helicopter."
